Blood drive set for January 25 at Jennette’s Pier; Donors sought

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and a single donation can save up to three lives. On January 19, Governor Roy Cooper donated blood and proclaimed January as Blood Donation Month in North Carolina. Governor Cooper said, “If you’re heathy and eligible, sign up to donate today.”

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at Jennette’s Pier next Wednesday, January 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. As of January 19, only 22 of the 52 available appointments have been filled, so donors are very much needed.

All donors will be automatically entered in a national drawing to win a trip for 2 to the Superbowl in Arizona. One lucky donor at Jennette’s Pier will win Hang Gliding Lessons for two, complements of Kitty Hawk Kites.

The actual blood donation takes about 10 minutes.  The entire process takes about an hour. Appointments can be made at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
