The annual Fritz Boyden Memorial Youth Fishing Tournament will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Outer Banks Pier, Nags Head Pier, Avalon Pier, and Jennette’s Pier.
This catch-and-release tournament is open to boys and girls in age groups 4-9 years old and 10-16 years old. Registration will take place at the respective piers at 7:00 a.m. The fishing kicks off at 8:00 a.m. and will last until noon. The tournament is free to all kids.
An award presentation will take place that afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Jennette’s Pier where trophies, as well as rod and reel combos, will be distributed in the following categories:
- Drum (Black or Red)
- Triggerfish or Spadefish
- Trout (Speckled or Gray)
- Flounder
- Sea Mullet
- Croaker
- Spot
- Bluefish
- Pigfish
- Spanish Mackerel
- Unusual or explemplary catches
No angler will leave empty-handed as free t-shirts will be given to all participants!
