A hilarious farce “The Nerd” wraps Theatre of Dare’s 28th season

The Theatre of Dare’s 28th season finale is “The Nerd,” a hilarious farce about an unwanted houseguest
Willum Cubbert is a young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana living with his best friends Tansy and Axel.

On the evening of his 34th birthday party, Willum gets a visit from Rick Steadman, a man he credits with saving his life in Vietnam. However, it turns out that Rick is an awkward and inappropriate man with few social skills and even less tact.

As you might imagine, his presence throws Willum’s life into a comic tailspin, especially after Rick decides to stay awhile.

Performances are Friday and Saturday, April 5-6 and 12-13, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 and 14 at 2 p.m. at Roanoke Island Festival Park’s Indoor Film Theatre.

Show contains some adult language, so parents may want to leave the small children at home. Refreshments will be available in the lobby to benefit the Friends of Elizabeth II.
